[hr-wsis] Accreditation for PrepCom2

This is a very important information for Civil Society organizations
willing to participate to PrepCom2, the 2nd preparatory conference of
the WSIS process.

PrepCom2 will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, February 17-28, 2003 (yes,
11 days!).
 From the official secretariat information, it is envisaged that the
first week be mainly multi-stakeholder roundtables on the themes
pre-selected by the Subcommittee 2 (I'll explain this organization in
subcommittees in a next message).

ACCREDITATION IS NEEDED, whether or not you have participated to
PrepCom1.

The deadline for accreditation is December 15, 2002.

To ask for accreditation, you have to:

1/ Register on the web site of the Civil Society Official Secretariat,
which is at:
http://www.geneva2003.org (information available in English, French and
Spanish).
See http://www.geneva2003.org/home/index01.htm for English version.

2/ Provide the requested information and documents:
a)	name of the organization/entity and pertinent contact information,
including address and main contact;
b)	legal status;
c)	year of establishment;
d)	purpose of the organization/entity;
e)	a list of the members of the governing body of the
organization/entity and their countries of nationality;
f)	a description of the membership of the organization, indicating the
total number of members, the names of organizations that are members and
their geographical distribution;
g)	programmes and activities in areas relevant to the subject of the
Summit and indicating in which country, or countries, they are carried
out;
h)	copies of the annual reports, with financial statements and a list
of financial sources and contributions, including governmental
contributions, if applicable;
i)	a copy of the constitution and/or by-laws of the organization;
j)	a completed pre-registration form prepared by the Executive
Secretariat;
k)	confirmation of the activities of the organization at the national,
regional or international levels.

Note that this means that your organization must have a legal status,
and must be older than two years. For such organizations, the
accreditation process is manageable, though needing some paperwork.

Civil Society organizations which are accredited with ECOSOC or have the
status of ITU sector member (this applies in fact to business companies
only) do not have to provide all these documents, but they do have to
register and indicate their ECOSOC accreditation status.
