Hi all,

Welcome to this mailing list of the "Human Rights in the Information 
Society" caucus formed at the end of the first preparatory conference 
(PrepCom1, Geneva, July 1-5) of the UN World Summit on the Information 
Society (WSIS).
Some of you who haven't participated to PrepCom1 have expressed 
afterwards your interest to join this caucus, which purpose is to put 
the issue of "Human Rights in the Information Society" on the WSIS 
agenda. The second objective is, further, to promote this objective of 
an Information Society respectful of Human Rights, as defined by the 
UNDH.

This is an NGO/Civil society open caucus.

I'm really sorry I haven't had enough time to contact you and to start 
our common discussions on this list earlier. Since many deadlines 
regarding the WSIS are approaching, I'll send around some emails with 
practical information and requests for comments.
